A little red in the face

It’s been a long day … although really not much has actually happened.

Occurred I mean… as in anything monumentous [is that actually a word??] or substantial….

We booked and paid the deposit on our honeymoon. We are going to Egypt.

That in itself is amazing to be honest.

I can’t believe we’re actually going abroad. It feels odd. I know we don’t endure much hardship comparatively speaking to others in the globe… and I do feel bad [really I do] when I look around the world… the news and see how much poverty, fighting and desperation there is… but then I take a look at what we accomplish on a daily basis and you know what? We do OK.

We live on a single income, manage two young children [who if I do say so myself are pretty gorgeous and well behaved], we keep a house, pay bills, stay clean and tidy [relatively speaking], work long hours and we never, ever have a holiday.

God. A holiday - we never even have a break.

So… I must confess… a holiday this year is going to be fan-tastic.

Not to mention [obviously not to forget] it’s my honeymoon. Which is scaring the life out of me even better :)

We walked round town a little … Rowan was a grown up  and we had lunch out…

One of those days where it seemed to go on forever … but not for any reason… good or bad.

I had a bizarre allergic reaction to a face mask I used this morning… I was brushing my teeth after a short soak in the bath and I’d been wearing Organic’s 7th Heaven Fruit Pulp Mask and I noticed this red mark on my shoulder…

Allergic.

I sometimes go blotchy in the shower - I dunno why but hot water seems to make my face blotchy sometimes… I’ve never seen it on my shoulder but about a millisecond’s surmising amounted to ‘I’m blotchy from the shower’…

Then I realised that my face looked like a tomato. The only way to show you really is my photographing the side of my face - this is because - I was tomato to a point. Wherever the mask had been… I was blushed. You can see the marks are like a sun-tan round sunglasses… it’was most odd.

Allergic.

I had no itching, no soreness…… no indication that there was anything wrong while I was wearing it …… but my skin definitely did not like that one.
I’ve used these masks loads of times… I have probably used this one before although I don’t remember it specifically…. but obviously I won’t be trying this one again….

So I went about my day somewhat ‘conscious’ of my face…. which was nice… :)

p.s. BN’s artwork in the background there… everything’s for sale folks

Crap-tastic. A welcome blend of crap and fantastic.

Well we went over to our friends’ house last night and I had a really fabulous time.

I do really like them both and they’re good fun to be with. A (the boyfriend) is an hilarious drunk and gets amusingly and frustratingly argumentative in a ‘jolly good old debate’ way when pissed which appeals to my infinite need to be right… combine this with my desire to make every person bend to my will, BN’s incapability to leave anything alone and A’s capability to turn any conversation into a heated debate and you always have a fun evening….

The fact that S will inevitability side with us as A is usually completely too drunk and talking bollocks and it is not unusual for the evenings to involve copious amounts of red wine, whisky and staying up till 5am.

I gave up at 3.30 this morning and went to bed. Not because I wanted to, but more because I was aware of how shite I would feel today if I didn’t. :)

I decided to be sensible.

Smug :)

Because although I do feel like crap…. I’m the only one that isn’t feeling like crap that someone else stood on. The other three are far worse.

A cooked a lovely meal - rack of lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and tomato courgette side dish with a Gu chocolate pudding and whipped cream for dessert.

It was gorgeous and delicious and yummy. And the only thing I’m sorry about is that I don’t have it again tonight!

Then took our time this morning to get back to the folks - loved seeing the girls and they were so excited to see us. They had a great time with G&G and the only down side was Ella has a bad cough again and woke herself and everyone else up at 5am.

Feel pretty bad about that…. … … …. almost.

But then the other half of me is just happy that I wasn’t there

I had amazing gorgeous & fantastic Mother’s day and got lovely treats. Some Body Shop Goodies (which I love) and Sweet Darling Perfume from Kylie’s range and two DVDs. One of Stardust which I’m really looking forward to watching and one of Pride & Prejudice (Colin Firth version) which I absolutely adore.

Tonight - the plan is…. get girls to bed, have bath, get to bed with Colin Firth

Weekend stuff…

It’s been a really lovely weekend.

We haven’t really done anything so much except potter about.

I’ve cleaned my bathroom from top to bottom like I usually do on a Sunday… done a coupla bits… bought mother’s day card and pressie… (unknowingly intelligently I have opted to visit my folks on Mothering Sunday, meaning I have to buy a present can take the present with me)… this is a load off my mind as you can tell…   :)

We took the girls out for shopping yesterday and had lunch in a little cafe where utterly abnormally, they were a joy and a delight to be around. We found a little place with cheap cafe food in a slightly more faux-upmarket decor … if that makes sense..?!

The result though, was a really nice lunch and the girls were an absolute pleasure to be with.

We didn’t do much of anything else yesterday I don’t think…. (not sure why I struggle to remember yesterday…. Surely a sign of over working myself)

We organised some wedding stuff… getting measured for the suits and stuff, I picked my bridesmaids dresses all that kind of stuff..

Typical ‘weekend stuff’ stuff :)

Then today - we had a pretty lazy day again. We got up late… thanks to the girls playing in their room for a while this morning… we had a late breakfast… and went to the park, fed the ducks… had a run about…

Park

Laughing.

More park stuff

24/02/2008

[....Is it just me or does Ella suddenly look like a child and not a baby?! She's enormous ... and... today was our first ever trip out without the pushchair... (actually it's the second but first sounds better!!)]

Strutting. (her not me... I'm just strollling...)

Park

Park

Grinning.

There has been moments today when they’ve been a little hmmm…. how to put it….? Testing? Rowan is testing the theory of bad moods and possible causes at the moment…. for example … today she was absolutely fine in the park and then was suddenly … foul.

Her explanation?

The sun got in her eyes and that made her grumpy.

More park stuff

But.. hey. I can see it for what it is. She’s just not sure what the rules are for this type of thing. She has no idea what constitutes a good reason for a bad mood. For all I know she listens to my reasons sometimes and thinks I’m an absolute fruitloop!

So… we came back and collapsed unconscious on the sofa for 40minutes whilst the girls went brain dead to Peppa Pig DVD (gotta love it) and then put Ella down for a nap.

Rowan and I made biscuits …

Hmmmm... homemade cookies.

(out of a ready to bake kit from M&S - really recommend it I have to say … the biscuits were really nice and it was dead easy) and we attempted to watch a movie together… we picked Cinderella Twist in Time (Xmas present from Grampty) … 5 minutes after this photo,

Watching.

she wanted it turned off because it was boring!!

Then she specifically requested this movie (5 points if you can guess it from the still) and paid attention to it for approximately 9 minutes before she wandered off. Not quite time for the cinema yet then.

Watching.

She is funny.

But one thing for sure….. she is gorgeous.

Rowan.

I have to tell you this.

It made me laugh [although slightly disturbed me] that yesterday somebody found my blog by Googling

’I love it in the bum’

Now of course…. me being me… [come on don't lie to yourselves .... you know you would too] I instantly had to Google ‘I love it in the bum’ to see which post exactly in my nice, clean living, family-oriented blog that brought them to.

It made me laugh even more when the result of the Google showed I was the 5th Link…

… Yes

The.Fifth.Link. for ‘I love it in the bum’

I then laughed even harder when I realised it was this post!!

Oh, how disappointed they must have been!!

Bless my boring life!

oh…. blurgh

Hi.

I am just absent of topic.

Does that make sense?

I could just sit here and blurb and potentially (probably) bore you senseless.

But I think

Tonight..

I will actually (probably) just go…

And get something to snack on.

Bye :)

oh ps. Wedding dress fitting this weekend… will keep you posted (pun intended) ;)

a poem about responsibility

There was a most important job that needed to be done,
And no reason not to do it, there was absolutely none.
But in vital matters such as this, the thing you have to ask
Is who exactly will it be who’ll carry out the task?

Anybody could have told you that everybody knew
That this was something somebody would surely have to do.
Nobody was unwilling; anybody had the ability.
But nobody believed that it was their responsibility.

It seemed to be a job that anybody could have done,
If anybody thought he was supposed to be the one.
But since everybody recognised that anybody could,
Everybody took for granted that somebody would.

But nobody told anybody that we are aware of,
That he would be in charge of seeing it was taken care of.
And nobody took it on himself to follow through,
And do what everybody thought that somebody would do.

When what everybody needed so did not get done at all,
Everybody was complaining that somebody dropped the ball.
Anybody then could see it was an awful crying shame,
And everybody looked around for somebody to blame.

Somebody should have done the job
And Everybody should have,
But in the end Nobody did
What Anybody could have.

Bleeding ‘eck

I had a blood test this morning. I am a bit run down and not losing weight easily so my doctor (the mardy one from the other day) in his infinite wisdom … wanted to do a thyroid function check.

I don’t think it’s my thyroid.

I think it’s the fact that I’m not dieting properly and still expecting it to drop off like it was in the beginning when I was being really good.

Why be all perceptive and ‘tough love’ on me and then renege and offer a blood test for Thyroid function?

Anyway. Not the point. The point was the nurse.

I got there promptly and was called through immediately this morning.

She was very stern. The kind of nurse you would have expected to see at school. The one who would just happen to be on duty the day you tried to pull a sicky for PE. The one who would just happen to have the mother of all sticky yukky medicines for anyone with ‘period pain’ on a wet Wednesday afternoon when you were supposed to be playing hockey with Team Head Whacker from the other side of town.

To teach you a lesson.

I didn’t much like the look of her. :)

But then it’s in my nature to be friendly. I kind of have the approach that everyone has a fun loving and genial side. All you have to do is find it. So when she asked me what the test was for… I told her.. and smiled warmly.

‘I don’t personally think it’s thyroid though. I think maybe I have a touch of anaemia’ (pretty common for me - my blood is like a crap magnet. It couldn’t pick up iron if it was paid to do it).

She kind of just looked at me.

No words. Just looked. And judged.

Ok. I thought. OK. Fine. Let’s try a different tack to warm you up at 8.30 in the morning.

‘Oh well.. we’re all doctors I spose’ (meaning.. you know.. everyone has an opinion about their own ailments so to speak… it’s not often you hear an old lady whinging about her sore foot without diagnosing herself with bunions etc. etc.)

‘I’m not.’ She said.

‘Well.. you know what I mean…’

‘I’m sure I don’t’ she said.

‘Oh. OK then.’

She looked at me like she couldn’t quite work out why I wasn’t melting under her death ray stare…. like I was being insolent for not vaporising on the spot.
Well you have a good day then and try not to scare anyone else I said as I backed out of the room… pressing my cotton wool to my inner arm….

Internet schminternet!

The internet at our house has got tummy ache :)

So a quick post to tell you a couple of things that have happened over the last couple of days…

I had the long weekend which Rowan and Ella finished off nicely by getting some sort of 48hour tummy virus which Rowan spent puking up all over our carpets. They really do not resemble the colour they were when they were bought (the carpets not the children).

We watched The Crocodiles of Banana with Rowan (which she loved). The talking teddy bears (the beavers) were a particular hit.

Then… yesterday afternoon I had to go back to work… which was a bit bizarre but has made me realise how much I would like to be part time eventually. It was odd going into work halfway through the day though and oddly stressful too.. because basically I just had to try and fit a whole day’s work into 4 and a half hours.

So then … um… back to work properly today.. that was all kind of boring. Nothing particularly exciting happened apart from an update on the work problem. I am managing the factory this week which makes everything a bit more hectic but not exactly hard.. just a bit busier.

Rowan is getting hilarious and has learned the concept of insult. Oh yes!

My child cannot only play us up now .. but she can play up and be mean as well :)

Her first ever one was (said with the giggles) ‘DADDY!! You smell like poo!’

Her second ever one was ‘Daddy - you smell like mummy!’ (Followed by much giggling & hilarity from both her and BN)

Charming!

*places hands on hips and flounces off*

Had a long weekend…

I always mean to blog and then some nights it’s just…. it’s just too hot!

We had a fab weekend and I’ve really enjoyed going to stay with the folks for my dad’s birthday party…

Mad Man murders cake in village shocker…

All the girls were there…

Mad brown haired midget gets stuck to girls back…

A Nana eats villagers in bogus barbeque…

But I’ll blog more tomorrow… because right now… I need to go and wash my work trousers otherwise I shall have nothing to wear tomorrow!!!!

(which would not be good)

This week we will mostly be…

Dieting!

I need to lose this last half stone before my weekend out for my birthday .. that’s my goal and I am trying to focus on that!!

Send me all your focusing vibes!! :)

Nothing to report on the girls this fine day really.. Rowan was funny when I got home and gave me a lovely big cuddle and said that she’d missed me.. bless her..

Ella is being just cuteness itself and always has big smiles and happiness for you when you get home which is heart-melting and scrummy..

I know something Rowan has done actually - she’s developed her own name for Ella.. We never call her anything but Ella or Ella bums but last night and this morning she called Ella, Elli…. she has created her own little pet name for her… how cute!!! :)

Lastly - I have to ask… what on earth is going on with the storyline in EastEnders?!?! Baby stealing?! I ask you… how ridiculous! Tut

It’s official.

I am addicted to Facebook.

You can say what you like. But I love it.

So sorry but I have to share…

Bathtime..

I’m in and out of the room whilst the girls play in the bath. The shallow-ish bath.. please don’t write in viewers.. they’re all fine. :)

I walk in with tonight’s pajamas and nappies etc. only to find Rowan very .. er.. involved.. in her.. erm.. delicate area. Her Xylophone if you will..

“what’s this, mummy?!” she said pointing to her clitoris… while she errr.. fiddled.. :)

Now it’s standard practice in this house that if Rowan asks what something is, you ask her straight back so she can tell you the answer..

“Well…. what is that?”

“It’s myyyyyyy…. my foxy, mummy!”

Only my daughter
