Just the kind of thing I was waiting for..

February 19, 2007

Rowan told off Baby Annabel just now for banging her head on the door.

When Rowan is being particularly obstinate, she has a kind of time out. She has to sit in the corner, facing the wall and stay for a couple of minutes (never actually timed – I’m not that organised) and then gets called back periodically to try apologising.

When she gives in – which is usually after one go these days… she knows we don’t back down so I figure she thinks it’s worth one go and then she realises she has more important things to do anyway….

– anyway – when she gives in she has to have a kiss and a cuddle with whoever has told her off… kind of a submission extra crossed with a ‘no hard feelings..’ side helping.. just to make sure we’re all still friends..

So .. Baby Annabel was in trouble. She made Rowan bang her head apparently.

Rowan came to tell me about it and I asked if Annabel had said sorry.. expecting that.. well I don’t know really expecting what.. just not expecting what happened.

She went and sat Annabel by the front door and started the whole procedure of time out and that she had to say sorry. So when she started striding back into the room I said she had to go back and tell her *why* she was in trouble and *why* she had to say sorry..

So.. back she went.

Rowan can’t talk in full sentences yet – it’s all kind of pigeon English interspersed with some approximations of what she can’t accurately remember …

‘er ur er hmm er ur bang head…. er ur er er ur hmmme r um say sorry… er um erh er er um hur er sit down, say sorry. OK. Kiss. Cuddle.’

She was actually wagging her index finger at poor Annabel as she told her off…. I never knew I wagged my finger!!?

We were in absolute hysterics round the corner – I actually had tears .. all she would have seen if she were to have looked up would have been my shaking shoulders as we silently giggled at the absolute adorableness of it..

Who would have thought I could have influenced someone that much?!
