Things Thumbs are a Changing.

I came home tonight and my very first thought after walking through the door was that Rowan looks different.

Something about her face. Something in the way her face looked chubbier or something. I can’t put my finger on it except to say that she looked chubby.

Quite an achievement for her TBH. She never looks anything but skinny!

She’s got a funny thing going on with her thumb though. Last night or the night before she was messing about on the bathroom floor when she suddenly squealed and held up her thumb for inspection.

You never know with littly kids though do you? If they’re messing around or playing up to the cameras .. I had a look and couldn’t see anything wrong with it. Got her to wiggle it backwards and forwards and she did, and could, do that without any more drama. I decided it was probably that she’d either twisted it on the floor or that she was making it up.

But tonight the same thing. Running upstairs and she got to the top step, and suddenly squealed holding out her right hand again. ‘My thumb!’ she yelled.

I wasn’t allowed to touch it. She wouldn’t wiggle it and when we tried to get her to play by squeezing BN’s thumb with her hand, she would try but not move her thumb at all. It was very obvious.

She let us play with it a bit and BN was sure after a couple of times – he felt it crack. It was hot and red and looked a touch weird. Not very weird.. but… fatter maybe? Or slightly wider round the bottom.

We’re toying with the idea of taking her to the walk-in doctor and suddenly she seemed as though it was fine. It still felt warm and looked red but she stopped complaining and was happy to play and for it to be touched. Whereas before she was whipping her hand away from you if you tried to touch the joint.

So – has she a problem with a dislocating thumb?? Anyone heard of this before..?

My thumb doesn’t dislocate but it keeps running away. It’s a pain in the ass to find it again (often because it hides in my ass. Grrrr.)
