Bank Holiday Weekend

August 28, 2007

Had a lovely weekend. The weather was so much better than expected wasn’t it?

We took the girls out to the park on Saturday, Sunday and Monday in the end and played football and frisbee and had two picnics (which Rowan thinks is the best thing in the entire world).. Food. Outside. On a blanket. In the grass. A-maz-ing! 🙂

We had a great time – I caught the sun a little and had a fab time with the girls. Ella really loves it and runs about kicking a football like a little mad baby.. so easy to forget how little she is though.. it’s hard to remember and then you realise she’s completely flagging after about 40 minutes running about ….. it suddenly hits you she’s only 12 months old.

We took them shopping – spent money we can’t really afford.. a total speciality of mine. Ours. We bought stuff 🙂 shampoo and stuff. Spent £57 in Boots!! How does that happen???!?

I was talking to Bam the other day and we were agreeing that when you go to your bank and you know you have more in there than you thought you would you can kind of go all frugal and wise and only spend what you have to… and my instant reaction to putting on 3lbs or finding I’m £20 over my limit is to go out and spend £30 on an expensive food related treat and eat it all. Quickly.

*MY* mind doesn’t seem to be able to get past the hurdle of less food, less shopping. It’s a constant source of amazement to me that thin, rich people exist at all. 😆

So anyway..

Had great games of scrabble and lost every single one of them to my better half. Lost spectacularly in fact. We drank beer and watched movies.. Incidently.. watch Derailed with Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen.. it *really* was very good. Excellent twists and turns in it that were quite unexpected for me.

They generally are unexpected for me .. I like to just watch films instead of second guessing plots all the way through. I get very bored of people that insist on saying ‘Oh I get it – I know what’s gonna happen’ all the way through a film.

Yawn. Shut up AND WATCH IT!! It’ll be so much better for all concerned 🙄

OOh. Incidently again. We are trying to remember a film. Can anyone guess or give us the name of this film.

A man wakes up and hears his wife leaving for work. It’s an unremarkable event and he yells g’bye and rolls over – goes back to sleep. When he wakes up and watches the news, there’s some kind of disaster happening. An explosion or maybe something natural or biological (we haven’t seen the film only the trailer – it’s not that we just have really crap memories) he realises that the place they are all talking about on the news is exactly where his wife is and he has to leave to look for her.. Save her. Whatever. There’s army people around, he has to board his windows maybe. Then you realise it’s all a lot more sinister than that and something fishy is going on…

We really want to know what it is but we can’t think of any more of the plot or who the actors were.

If you recognise it would you tell me?!

Watched movies, drank beer and watched films, drank more, ate more. It was really good fun. Rowan is making us laugh cos she’s learned to say “come on it’s not rocket science!” and thinks that’s hysterical – as well as “come on let the dog see the rabbit” which my mum would love… she used to say that all the time… still does probably…

I think Ella is getting even closer to starting to babble away now. She says boo (whilst jumping up and laughing) and ‘dis?’ and ‘dat?’ still and BN thinks that she said Juice today when she held up her cup… she’s very funny… she’s doing all these little dances at the moment. She’ll hold your trouser legs when you’re sat down and do this little crouchy bum wiggle … it’s v cute..

Anyway.. I’ll leave you with some pictures of the weekend…

Getting a bit brave and independent … venturing away from us a bit.. scary..

I really don't want to be trying on winter coats actually, mummy.
Not impressed with trying on winter coats on one of the only hot days of the entire summer.

Dan!! That’s it!! You solved it in one go! 🙂

We almost got the trailer right.. not bad seeing as we only saw it once about 6 months ago… however… the film looks like it wasn’t that good.. have you seen it? Is that why you recognised it?

    hehe I am such a defective… er.. detective 😉

And I just read through a crap-load of movie stuff trying to find something that sounded similar to what you described!

Looks pretty interesting, but I suspect I can guess the plot twists before seeing it. Doubt i’ll watch it at the cinema 🙂

And don’t applaud, just throw money!

Erm… pass 🙂 I think the best description is just “I am a smart-ass” hehe
Plus I watch a lot of movies, and have one of those sort of minds.
