This week we had the visit to the school that we have chosen for Rowan.

As her birthday is in October she won’t be able to go to school till next September which means another year of nursery bills. HO hum.

Anyway – we had a good look at schools in our area and BN did quite a bit of looking around and offsted reading. We found a local school with a great Offsted report from earlier this year. BN called them earlier in the year and we booked a meeting with the head mistress.

We met her on Monday and had a tour round the school from two of the older children. This is a junior school that only takes kids from 5 to 7. So the ‘older’ children were only 6.

In a word – they were adorable. Ben and Harriet were simply gorgeous. The school has great facilities, great room, great gardens and play area, great atmosphere.

It just felt right.

All we have to do now is apply and I hope so much that she gets accepted. This was the only school round here that we remotely liked the look of.

As we left, the headmistress, Mrs P, bent down next to Rowan and asked her if shed had a nice time. After explaining to us that the admissions process was all based on numbers of applications and locations of students home address, statemented children and special needs etc., she then said to Rowan, ‘we’ll see you next year when you’re nearly 5….’

I hoping she’ll be looking out for her…

Fingers crossed!!

    I thought the old way was infants 5 – 7 juniors was 8 – 11, secondary was 11+

or primary 5 – 8 and middle 9 – till whenever the senior takes over

sos law someone would make up a new one just to confuse parents moving out of area!

my eldedest two dropped back from middle school to primary again coming out here, F goes up to senior in January, mosy confusing

I totally forget about things like that! None of the schools round here are split so you’ll have to forgive my momentary ignorance.

Yes this is one done the old way – 5-7 infants and then there’s another one round the corner that is 8 – 10.
It is unusual but it’s by far and away the best school in the area here at the moment.
I think it has the potential to make things quite complicated for us later down the line but if it’s the best thing for her now then what choice do I have really? ๐Ÿ™‚

No ignorance to forgive! I was surprised when I found out too!
