Things I wish I knew .. and now I do

I’ve decided to start this page on the suggestion of Big. We were sitting around the other night eating the remains of my Christmas mini-chocolate fondue (dipping marshmallows in – yummy) and we both wondered ‘how are marshmallows made?’ We found out with the wonders of the Internet and he decided this would be a great idea for a page..

I am going to post (when I think of them) things I wish I knew and I will find out and post the answers here. Please post a suggestion of things you wish you knew and I will find those out as well. Or you could post a wish and an answer..?

1. What are marshmallows made of?
Corn syrup, egg white, sugar and corn starch basically. Esentially what I thought but it was the finding out that was so funny!

Tell me what you wanna know!!!

2. Why don’t killer whales eat/attack humans?
This is what I’ve found..

Killer Whales do apparently attack humans – most incidents have been when the whale is in captivity and it seems nobody really knows why. I had to link this page because you can hear a killer whale calling which I thought was pretty cool.
So.. it seems they don’t want to actually eat humans because they have plenty of other stuff to eat but they may attack you if you annoy them (or other uinknown factors). They are considered one of the deadliest of the whale community (in conjunction with one other) and can travel the fastest as well (30mph!)

They were called Whale Killer because years ago they were witnessed killing another whale (not a human) and this was reversed to Killer Whale sometime later. I found record of an attack in Vancouver where the trainer was held under water and died but no eating here. Killer whales are divided into two types. One type eats fish, and the other type feeds mostly on marine mammals (seals, dolphins, occasionally big whales). The two types have nothing to do with each other and they are apparently probably on their way to being separate species.

Oh also this was the attack I did find on film but no eating occurred here either! (It’s not too scary because the overwhelming fake drama in the American v/o is just too funny). So I have to presume if a KW did eat a human it was a mistake so it spat it out!

Why the only killer whale to ever eat a person spat them out again.
